Flagged Hub? Learning The Ropes About Writing on HubPages!

FYI:

I almost pulled the plug on this Hub, just like the one that I did eventually bury. I discuss the passing of that Hub below... may it R.I.P.

And yes, I have renamed it...

I decided to keep this one up and running... why? After careful consideration - I realized that this Hub was written from a place of great passion and frustration, as I continue to learn everything that I need to know - so that I can bettter utilize the HubPages platform for writing that which I have chosen to write about - on HubPages. Just like you.

Let me say from the start... which is really the "now" of my learning experiences here on HP... thank you. Thank you to HubPages for their patience that they have displayed with one, who has a great deal of passion!

Thank you, to many fellow Hubbers within this Hub community who have been willing to teach... as true mentors. There are many different styles of students and teachers. Achieving the right combination on HubPages I believe is a challenge... and most likely will continue to be so, because of so many personalities.

I thank all those in the forums who are truly there to serve others, who are in need of genuine help and are continually learning. I am learning to think more like Thumper's mother when it comes to responding in our forums...

I have grown quite fond of HubPages and of many Hubbers:-) HubPages, for those who truly do have a passion to publish their passion - is somewhat addicting... but it is made all the more positive of an obsession, when it is engaged in, with other positive Hubbers.

So thanks Hubbers for being patient and willing to teach:-)

This Hub as follows... and this capsule, could easily be placed at the end, or as ongoing info... But, it explains the reason or purpose of the continued decision of mine - to even have this "blog" remain published.

And that really does make a point about whether Hubpages is a blog or not?

IMHO... HubPages is not really a blogging forum. My deciding to maintain this Hub - is the reality that this particular Hub is definitely a BLOG.... and is NOT compatible really... with everything else that I write about, nor how I write... because, this is a blog!

Blogs are published journals, primarily personal oppinion. This "blog" crosses over somewhat and that is why I am keeping here...

Please.... If you choose to read my blog, about my experiences, frustrations, lessons, etc... on being flagged and penalized - just know - that this is not a Hub in the traditiona sense of "standards". (although I don't necessarily feel HP has tradition yet, but "we" all, are attempting to create such:-)

Does that work?

I hope that in my leaving my "journal" or "blog" or even for those who still might consider it a "Hub" up.... It is my hope that it is also an experience of learning - as well for those who read it as I have gained from keeping it. That you might except it for what it is... and who knows, perhaps you will or can relate to parts of it - and even learn a thing or two from perusing the content.

And yet, it was very well received by none other than - GOOGLE! Of this particular Hub... may it rest in peace - while live, it enjoyed Top Page Google status.

So, WHY was I compelled to "pull the plug" on a beautiful Hub, one which I was very proud to call my own - and finally concede?

Let's face it... when penalties cause a HubPage to drop to the low 30s, when once upon a time, it enjoyed a life of very high 80s -- the natural course of life is - that it is dying; and thus affecting the rest of the Hubs that you are also lovingly trying to nurture, but are being caused to suffer.

R.I.P. What more can I say, than to ask myself -- How can I write Hubs going into the future that are not infected by the 'penalty' death sentenced here on HubPages? How can I ensure the good health of the work that I do here on the Hub - from not being quite so vulnerable to decaying in such a way?

So... here is to health and HubPages! Come and learn from my tragedy of putting to sleep - that which desired to live - in cyberspace - indefinitely... and yet - was too mortal - and died as a result of fallibility... apparently my own? Hm-mm....

HUB KEY: New and Fresh content is being added TODAY the February 18th 2008 - As This Hub has now been "Flagged" as being considered "sub-standard", which I believe they mean - having no value, or only of a personal nature. One must ASK the Question - How does "one" write correctly - within the HIGH standards of HubPages and KNOW that they are doing so, BEFORE they are "flagged" or penalized.

This "FLAG" - for THIS Hub, could ONLY have been done by another Hubber OR Admin... IMHO. A computer or a SPIDER has no ability to determine PASSION, but I figure HubPages does...

But WHO 'at' HubPages would oppose, PASSION that is PUBLISHED , that although is loud - IS also CRITICAL for those who might also be having 'relationship' issues with HUBPAGES?

I shall proceed with ensuring that THIS HUB is most definitely, EDUCATIONAL and PASSIONATE... And, I personally am THRILLED to do so....

All * "UN-BOLDED" content is NEW CONTENT as of Today's date, which has been noted.... I will not remove my Original content - as I believe it is very important, as it is evidence of the KIND of PASSION - That perhaps is not acceptable to some, but, nonetheless is also CLEAR EVIDENCE of What CAN happen when poor communications is FELT by any "Hubber"....

FOUR OF THE FIVE... BEGAN ON SATURDAY OF LAST WEEK.

As I sit here at my computer, it is February 14th, Valentines Day.

But... Where is the HubLove this lovely day?

I am fairly new as a Hubber. Just an amateur and maybe HubPages is not for amateur writers. If you are thinking about joining HubPages - so that you too can Publish Your PASSION.

What I have learned in my short experience here on HubPages - and which is 'coming' the hard way - is that you better know a whole lot more about writing online - in a place like HubPages - If you intend to develop positive relationships with others who also HUB here...

My story is told HERE, ( which has - as of TODAY - THIS very HUB - today has been now 'FLAGGED' as being substandard?

But, my story, if you will is being told, with all the PASSION, of which it was my understanding - I had a RIGHT to WRITE about.

(Original Content - before today's FLAG):

Of these FIVE different HUBS - FOUR OF THEM ARE COMPLETELY OUT OF MY HEAD... NOT A SINGLE CUT AND PASTE. (oops... except for the one Article of Faith, which is probably about 20-30 words, something like that anyway)

The fifth Hub of mine that has been flagged duplicate is ALSO on either the First or Second page of Google... BUT, it IS an authorized use, declaration, from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

It is the 'TESTIMONY OF THE APOSTLES OF THE LORD - THE LIVING CHRIST' It is an amazing document. I decided to post it, because of its relevancy to Mormonism and the ongoing controversy as to our Christianity; and of course my main topic that I write on.

This Hub has been flagged TWICE IN TWO WEEKS for the same reason.

BUT... HAPPY DAY! GOOGLE LIKES IT!

I should be so excited right now. I know that when some Hubbers have gotten on the first page of Google, or accomplished something of note here on HubPages... we all celebrate down in the forums with them. I have always been so happy for others success. I enjoy learning from those who go before me, as well as celebrating their success here!

But I am not really that excited about it for 'me' -- and unfortunately - I am not so sure anyone wants to celebrate with me anyway? Perhaps, it is because - that is not my motivation for witing. Google only means that hopefully more relevant traffic will find what they are seaching for...

Why am I not thrilled then? Well, how could I be excited about being on the first page of Google, when these same Hubs that I have published are currently being reviewed for duplicate content?

In the last two weeks, my Hubs have been flagged FIVE TIMES and all for DUPLICATE CONTENT.

TWO of these Hubs that I have published, have been flagged TWICE.

I don't know if any of you have dealt with the issue of being flagged unfairly, Or, feeling that you have been?

I have become an expert in this, from my own observations. Hub Pages assures me that this is normal procedure for their computers. But I am completely baffled by this and how it works.

I feel that I am being seen as a slow and stubborn student.

On one hand, I am told that the built in computer on HubPages, just catches my Hubs on its regular spider crawl, as it checks all Hubs, for duplicate content.

Have you noticed, that on every HubPage that we pubish, we also have that little feature that says -

"FLAG THIS HUB"!

For those of you who have not yet needed to pay attention to this FLAG, that you can receive; I assure you - this is not a GOOD thing.

Is is clearly evident in this PASSIONATE and ORIGINAL - FIRST final statement - that EDUCATION and a DESPERATE CRY FOR HELP was and is the motivator for this HUB - from the very BEGINNING.

FIRST mine.... out of complete and utter frustration. This due to MY personal experience on the Hub and in the forums with mostly 'only' a handful of Hubbers, but nonetheless, 'those' that have not been what I would consider helpful.

I have been actively working to ascertain the answers to all of my questions proposed in this Hub and will incorporated many of them - which will raise the value of the content in this HUB to standards of most relevance to all who desire to -

PUBLISH YOUR PASSION - here at HubPages, and more clearly understand the SYSTEM in place currently...

Don' t publish, unless you have something GOOD to accomplish... others may not always agree with what you say or how you say it - but SAY IT and be patient for results to manifest themselves...

That principle should be a HUB in itself. Since when was speaking up about a problem - considered a problem? Something to think about?

WHEN I SIGNED UP, I AM POSITIVE THAT I READ SOMETHING TO THE EFFECT OF ANYONE CAN WRITE ON ANYTHING. NO ONE PERSON HAD THE CORNER ON A GIVEN TOPIC.

UNIQUE, IS THE WORD I AM HEARING A LOT THESE DAYS. NOW, I AM NOT REALLY THAT UNIQUE... ANY MORE THAN THE NEXT WRITER - WRITING ABOUT THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER DAY SAINTS...

BUT I AM MOST CERTAINLY THE AUTHOR OF THE ORIGINAL CONTENT THAT I PERSONALLY PUBLISH HERE ON HUBPAGES. I DO NOT PLACE MY WORK HERE ANY PLACE ELSE... EXCEPT FOR THE LINK, BACK HERE TO HUBPAGES.

I THINK THIS IS LEGAL. PROBLEM IS, I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS AND I FEEL AS THOUGH I HAVE SURPASSED BY QUOTA OF BEING ABLE TO GET ALL THE SMALL ANSWERS FOR UNDERSTANDING. I JUST WENT DOWN AND LOOKED INTHE FORUMS, AND I AM AT ABOUT 60 POST IN THE FORUM.

I UNDERSTAND THAT THIS CAN BE EXHAUSTING ON THAT PARENT. HEY, I RAISED FIVE CHILDREN AND HAVE NOW, SIX GRANDCHILDREN. I APPRECIATE THE 'WHYS' OF LIFE.

I HAVE LEARNED THAT WE ASK 'WHY' -- NOT TO BE DIFFICULT, OR EVEN TO DISAGREE, BUT WE ASK 'WHY', SO THAT WE KNOW HOW TO -

NOT GET IN TROUBLE OR TO UNDERSTAND OUR TROUBLE!

THUS, MY NEED TO UNDERSTAND AND NOT CONTINUE TO HAVE THIS OCCURING UNTIL I AM UNABLE TO WRITE ON HUBPAGES.

It is my intention that you too, who desire to write without problems on issues such as I have experienced, will better be able to navigate the world of writing here on HubPages.

Do I own a topic?

1. HubPages does not assign ownership of a specific topic to a Hubber. Anyone is free to write on any topic they like. However, by creating a high number of Hubs filled with original, useful content, you will boost your HubPages status and you may become recognized in the community as an expert.

My hub has been flagged for duplicate content, what does that mean? (this is actually number 7 on Help Page)

1. The hub seems to have text that is either copied from or to a large number of other sites, and has incurred a HubScore penalty as a result.

   If your Hub is truly original or simply quotes another Web page in a reasonable manner, please request a review of the hub by clicking on "learn more" at the top of the hub. HOW DO I CONVINCE HUBPAGES THAT MY WRITING IS MY WRITING AND NOT ANY OTHER INDIVIDUALS ON THIS ENTIRE PLANET?

HELP... PERHAPS A FEW OBJECTIVE FOLKS COULD SOMEHOW HELP ME COME UP WITH A WAY TO PROVE MY CASE TO HUBPAGES. I AM TIRED OF BEING SEEN AS A WHINER -- WHEN THAT IS JUST NOT WHAT IS GOING ON HERE.

I KNOW THAT SOMEONE CAN COME UP WITH A WAY, TO HELP ME RE-SUBMIT THIS SITUATION TO HUBPAGES.

WHATEVER OR WHOMEVER IS 'JUDGING' MY HUBS.... IS SIMPLY - WRONG!

EVERY SINGLE PAGE IS MINE, OF THESE FIVE HUBS THAT ARE NOW PENALIZED; AND MY SCORE CONTINUES TO PLUMMENT ON THESE HUBS... WHICH DO COMPLY WITH WHAT IS WRITTEN ABOVE...

I HAVE ZERO DUPLICATE CONTENT... ACCORDING TO HUBPAGES POLICIES FOR COMPLIANCE.

PERHAPS IT WAS NOT THE 'SPIDER' THAT HAS FLAGGED MY HUBS EACH OF THESE TIMES... BUT WHY WOULD ANYONE BE UNKIND, TO WANT TO INJURE ANOTHER HUBBER IN SUCH AN AGRESSIVE WAY?

HUMAN OR SUPER-HUMAN, SPIDERMAN HIMSELF... WE NEED TO UNTANGLE THIS WEB THAT HAS MESSED MY WORK UP AND CONTINUES TO DO SO...

OF NECESSITY, I AM TRYING TO RECORD IN THE COMMENTS CAPSULE MY SCORE, TIME, DATE AND PLACEMENT ON GOOGLE. I WILL CONTINUE THIS FOR THE NEXT WHILE, SO AS TO FIND OUT THE PROBLEMS I AM HAVING.

Of course I am pleased that my Hubs are slowly being reviewed, because of the many reasons I have been flagged, unfairly, as I understand the situation.

A few legitimate reasons, perhaps; although from my personal perspective - I see many Hubs on HubPages - that should also be unpublished or flagged for much more serious infractions. Thus, I find myself still learning to understand the 'Why' this is so - of being penalized so frequently and when my content is valid?

I have been given on a few of the above Hubs, which have been flagged, different clearance after review...

I am still uncomfortable with the "clearance" status that has been granted on most of them... these are my articles, completely original and NOT duplicate; and yet the "clearance" which many of them have been 'granted' is an

"EXCEPTION"

I am not asking for 'exception' or any special treatment - meaning any treatment that is not available to another Hubber here.

I am asking that my name be cleared from either personal accusations that have been submitted through manual flagging - that my content is 'duplicate', which it is not... or the system failures that so rampantly affected my ability to write and have mis-interpreted my pages?

Either reason for the flagging's, I want my Hubs that are truly 'original' to be recognized by HubPages as such and Not just "granted an exception" to the rule.

As happy as I am, to know that these 'grants' are available when determined by HP that they will allow certain 'types' of policy reviewed....

When what has been flagged, has been wrongly flagged for a specific reason -- I feel that the 'clearance' should reflect the proper review to have said penalty lifted, or the Hub republished and 'why' HubPages determined this 'wave' to be made.

As a writer, my credibility is imperative. What is mine - I own it - and should feel confident that I can also know that HP knows it as well. They have invited us to publish our unique, relevant and original content to build HubPages.com online - as a source for such material...

That is why I am writing here on HubPages... and not to have a place to cut and paste, or even re-word another persons content. I am here to write my passion with my words and must have that noticed by HubPages whose policies these are; and of which I am most happy to comply.

If it walks like a duck... then it is a duck. QUACK QUACK!
