181s General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Sants

Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are anxiously anticipating hearing from leaders of the LDS Church. In a two-day conference that will convene on Saturday morning, LDS members will gather in various locations around the globe to hear the counsel from what they believe to be living prophets of God!

Scheduled to speak during the two-day LDS General Conference, Oct 1-2, 2011, will be members of The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints, including President Thomas S. Monson. Each member of The Quorum of The Twelve Apostles will also address the Church, and other selected general authorities and auxiliary leaders of the Church.

The General Conference of the LDS Church convenes twice a year, every six months; and is held at the Conference Center, in Salt Lake City, Utah. This is located directly across from Temple Square and the LDS World Headquarters offices.

Members take very seriously the words that are spoken by the leaders of the Mormon Church. Again, Mormons believe that these individuals are called of God to lead and guide His Church today.

As in ancient Christianity, when a prophet speaks - those who believe in God... listen. The counsel that is to come particularly from the President of the Mormon Church is considered the word of the Lord, and the will of the Lord in all things pertaining to the latter-day Church.

All members of the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles are sustained as prophets, seers and revelators. The words that these men speak by the spirit of God are considered sacred by LDS members, and are to be considered by individuals prayerfully.

My wife and I and our whole family love General Conference. It's fun to see my grandchildren starting to enjoy it and pay attention (the oldest 2 are in grade school). It is a wonderful uplifting experience. What a marvelous age of technology we live in! Being able to see and hear living prophets come to us live in our own living rooms where you live in the world!

TLC Grandparent -

General Conference at our home, is often a time to gather the family around us, and listen to the words of our prophets, as well. We usually eat a lot too. LOL

However, I do remember the "old" days - when it was necessary for all of us to travel to a local building to view conference via satellite. Many still do:-)

During these tumultuous times, I always enjoy the peace that I feel from these on-going conferences of the Church, in knowing that "all things" are in the Hands of the Lord.

There have been 2 wonderful elders who have been stopping by our home and they have been providing me with a clear understanding of the religion and I do realize there is much to learn. I also realized that Warren Jeffs is definitely not want of the prophets of the Latter-Day-Saints as they come every tuesday evening like clock work and they are the only ones that I will open my door to. Thank goodness for the elders of the mormon church~~ Great Hub
